What is SecureDrop?
SecureDrop is an open-source whistleblower submission system that media organizations and NGOs use to securely accept documents from anonymous sources. It uses the Tor network to protect your identity and provides end-to-end encryption for all submissions.
SecureDrop Under Development
We are currently setting up our SecureDrop instance. This page will be updated with our .onion address and instructions once the system is operational.
Why Use SecureDrop?
- Complete Anonymity: SecureDrop is designed so that we cannot identify you, even if we wanted to
- No Metadata: Unlike email, SecureDrop doesn't create records of who you are or when you submitted
- Air-Gapped Security: Submissions are processed on computers not connected to the internet
- Tor Protection: All communication happens over the Tor network
- Open Source: The software is publicly audited and verified
How SecureDrop Works
When our SecureDrop is operational:
- Download and install the Tor Browser
- Navigate to our .onion address (to be published)
- Submit documents or messages through the web interface
- Receive a unique codename to check for responses
- Return to check for follow-up questions using your codename
In the Meantime
While we set up SecureDrop, you can still contact us securely:
- Signal: Contact us at contact@odint.org to request our Signal number
- PGP Email: Use our PGP key to encrypt sensitive emails
- Tor Email: Create a ProtonMail account over Tor and email us
Security Considerations
For maximum security when submitting sensitive information:
- Use a computer that isn't associated with you (e.g., library, internet cafe)
- Don't access SecureDrop from your home or work network
- Remove metadata from documents before submission
- Don't discuss your submission with anyone
- Consider using Tails OS for additional protection
Source Protection
ODINT is committed to protecting sources. We will never voluntarily reveal your identity, and we design our systems to minimize the information we collect about you. See our Journalist & Source Protection policy for more details.
